On Monday evening Apple announced that the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus was off to a great start and it had broken all sales records in the first three days of sale. Thanks to the addition of China as a launch country, Apple announced that both the new iPhone models sold more than 13 million units. More than that, the company also announced that the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were launching in India on October 16.
Apple’s distribution partners Ingram Micro have now confirmed that the new iPhones will be sold in more than 2500 retail locations across 80 plus cities the country. The phone will go on sale at 12AM on Friday, October 16.
It is also worth noting that this is the fastest that the iPhone has ever come to India. For the first time, new iPhone models are coming to India within 25 days of their US retail availability. Interestingly, details about the iPhone pricing are also trickling through.
Price Baba has revealed that the iPhone 6S is set to become even more expensive. It posted the price of the new iPhones on its site. The 16GB iPhone 6S allegedly will cost Rs.62,000, while the 64GB and 128GB models will cost Rs.72,000 and Rs.82,000 respectively.
The iPhone 6S Plus, which has a larger and sharper display and has a better camera with an optical stabiliser is slated to be even more expensive. The 16GB model is said to costRs.72,000, while the 64GB and 128GB models will reportedly cost Rs.82,000 and Rs.92,000 respectively.
This price bump could be as a result of the weaker Rupee, which has plummeted in the past year.
As for new features in the new iPhones – the headline feature is the new pressure sensitive display technology, which gauges the amount of pressure applied on the screen and accordingly shows user interface elements. It also comes with a faster processor, more RAM and higher resolution 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras on the front and back.
Apple is also using a new flash technology for the for the front camera, where the flash is the screen itself. The phone runs on Apple’s latest mobile operating system iOS 9, which has a number of privacy centric features, a better Siri voice assistant and a new adaptive assistant called the proactive assistant.
